Description: Sound (French or English), b&w, 22 min. At the crossroads between northern and southern Italy lies the province of Emilia, with its proud cities of Bologna, Parma, and Ferrara. It is one of the nation's richest regions and yet, because of the strength of the Communist vote there, is known as "Red Emilia". Emilia, which suffered much destruction during the war, is a major recipient of Marshall Plan funds. That aid and technical assistance, together with local initiative, are rebuilding the region's towns, roads and industries. Land reclamation schemes are underway, and agricultural production is up. 1951. Produced and directed by Vittorio Gallo, script by James Wellard, spoken by Frank Gervasi.
