Tenth of twelve monthly newsreels about the European Recovery Program: Greece: ECA-funded mobile well-drilling equipment makes possible new water sources in a parched area; Austria: Linz shipyards are back at work repairing and building new barges; Berlin: an international labor rally in the Berlin stadium hears speeches by Mayor Ernst Reuter and labor leaders from other European countries; France: farmers harvest a rich crop from new farms converted from swampland by an ECA-funded reclamation project in the area of Marais Vernier; the first crop of hybrid corn is harvested in southern France, the seed was supplied by the U.S. with ECA funds; U.K.: nylon stockings are produced in a Scottish factory with new machines supplied from the U.S. with ECA funds; Italy: poor children receive shoes manufactured in an Italian factory reopened through aid from ECA and the Children’s Fund of the U.N. 1950.
