Third of twelve monthly newsreels about the European Recovery Program: The Netherlands: Dr. Dirk Stikker, Dutch Foreign Minister and newly-appointed political conciliator of the OEEC, flies to Washington; Denmark: the Jutland bicycle factory receives needed steel balls, enabling 100 workers to return to work; a new bicycle model is called the “Marshall;” Sweden: Michael Harris, ECA Chief in Sweden, visits shipyard in Gothenburg; France: 26 American farmers from the Middle West visit Paris, are briefed by Ambassador Milton Katz, and visit one of France’s model farms; American and French officials visit a spectacular new hydroelectric power plant near Passy; it is one of 58 such projects now under way in France; the world’s largest mechanical press, built in Chicago, arrives in Le Havre and travels extremely slowly on a specially-built trailer to a plant in Douai. Crowds watch it pass. Great Britain: agricultural experts meet in London to discuss development in overseas territories; Tunisia: Excavations of ancient ruins proceed with Marshall Plan aid. 1950.
