Description: Sound (Italian), b&w, 19 (?) min. Halfway through the century and halfway through the four-year European Recovery Progam, this gives an accounting of what has been accomplished and a reminder of what still lies ahead. Still to be achieved are increased productivity, greater economic cooperation and European integration. In rather hectic March-of-Time style, the film cites some specifics of the ERP program: the destroyed dykes of Holland's Walcheren Island have been rebuilt; Turkish farmers have new combines and a better steel plow from Detroit; Denmark is producing more poultry and eggs and more pork with new varieties of high-grade feed; in Belgium the great port of Antwerp is back in business; Trieste is building ships again; ships ply the Corinth Canal once more in Greece; in France power is being generated at Donzere, in the Rhone Valley; Norway's northernmost iron mine at Kirkenes is producing; and in England, imported carbon black from the USA assures the production of automobile tires. 1950. Produced by the March of Time, Paris, for ECA.
