Description: Sound (English), b&w, 27 min. Norway, bordering on the Soviet Union, is NATO's northernmost outpost. This is a report to the American people on what that nation is doing for its own security and how it is meeting its responsibilities to the NATO alliance. In Oslo, 100,000 serve as unpaid volunteers in the home guard. They remember the cruel Nazi invasion (shown in dramatic historical footage) and are resolved to repel any new aggressors. Norway's regular forces, including its crack ski troops, keep alert by means of frequent drills. The nation's industries, helped by the Marshall Plan, are doing their part—fishing, manufacturing and lumbering. 1952. Produced by the MSA Film Section, Paris, for MSA Washington.
