Description: Sound (English), b&w, 10 min. A day in the life of the "free city" of Trieste as it recovers from war destruction and the postwar squabbles of its occupiers. Thanks to Marshall Plan aid, there is food on the table again. And the hope of jobs: in manufacturing, on the railroad, in the reopened oil refineries and, especially, in the shipyards. (Note: Much of the territory of Trieste, including the City of Trieste, is now part of Italy. At the time the film was made, the city of Trieste was nominally part of a UN protectorate, the Yugoslav, American, and British occupiers having not yet agreed on a settlement.) 1950. Camera: Rino Filippini, Music: Alberico Vitalini, Editor Pino Giomini, Assistant Director, Micolo Ferrari. Produced and directed by Romolo Marcellini, Telefilm, Rome, for MSA.
