Near Chartres, France, centuries-old inherited farm holdings are being consolidated to permit more rational use of the land. In Austria's mountainous Donnerbach Valley electrically-powered winches are used to draw plows. West Germany's Vossenach forest, destroyed in the war, has been cleared to accommodate refugee farmers from East Germany. The coastal plain of Paestum in Italy, neglected for centuries, is being drained and irrigated and made fertile again. 1953. Directed by John Ferno, camera Nelo Risi.
