Description: Sound (German), b&w, 15 min. This is the story of Hansl, a farm boy who succeeds in getting good egg production from the chicks his family received under Marshall Plan aid. In 1951, large consignments of chicks were flown from America to Austria to boost egg and poultry production. 1952. Directed and produced by George Tressler, Vienna, for MSA Austria. NB: Although it was originally catalogued as HANSL AND THE 200,000 CHICKENS, the original film was probably in German and no copies are known to have been made in English. Copies were made in Greek, Portuguese, and Spanish versions. NARA ref. copy: VT. Also PPC 16mm.
