Description: Sound (English?), b&w, 27 (?) min. A report on the postwar recovery of Italy with the help of the Marshall Plan. Shows traditional tourist attractions, dress designing, the improving prospects of the Italian worker, land redistribution in the South, exploitation of natural gas resources, new housing projects, new steel mills, and the flourishing film industry. Features Anna Magnani and Gina Lollibrigida; the latter dictates into a tape recorder in Italian about the freedom of expression in the arts, etc. While the narrator translates, pictures are shown of Carlo Levi, Albert Moravia, an unidentified critic, and Vittorio de Sica looking at strips of film in a cutting room. 1952. NB: This film was included in a Sept. 5, 2000, memo of Marshall Plan films with copies at BA-FA (this copy being listed as currently not usable). However, further research is needed.
