Description: Sound (English), b&w, 11 (?) min. When Leonidas and his 300 Spartans attempted to stem the Persian invasion at Thermopylae, the spot was a narrow pass along the eastern seacoast of Greece. Today Thermopylae is a rocky plain six miles in from the sea and presently the scene of a Marshall Plan-funded experiment in soil reclamation. Drained of its sea salts and sweetened with river water, the plain now yields its first harvest of rice. 1950, David Kurland Productions, Rome, for ECA Greece.
