Description: Sound (English?), b&w, 21 min. The beginnings of the Marshall Plan and OEEC are explained, and their joint European Recovery Program is shown in action. At the end of the war Europe found itself at a standstill for lack of food, raw materials, machinery and even convertible currency. Soon, in train of George Marshall's dramatic proposal, those needs were addressed. French farmers, Danish fishermen, British coal miners, Italian olive growers and Dutch weavers were back at work again, and exchanging what they produced. A useful, if quick-paced, report on the European Recovery Program's early successes. 21 min, 1950. Produced by the March of Time, Paris, for ECA/OSR. NB: Contains some of the same footage as in THE NEW FRANCE, also produced (in 1947) by The March of Time.
